Detailed Trail Description:
This is a Level 3, or higher run as trail conditions are not known.
All-Terrain or Mud Terrain Tires are required
Jeep lift is not needed to drive this trail.
All Jeeps MUST have a spare tire. If you do not have one you will not be able to go on the run.
GMRS radio is recommended but not required for this run.
This is a revision of the Aiken Mine run adding several new stops along the way making this an all-day run. Due to all of the rain in the Mojave the trail conditions are not well known. If routes are closed or impassable the run may be cancelled, or we will re-route.
On the way to Aiken Mine there used to be the Mojave Phone Booth. A phone that was used by miners https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojave_phone_booth.
We will explore Aiken Mine and then proceed back down to Lava Tube Road. We will then park at the Lava Tube and go in the Lava Tube. From there we will continue to Mojave Road where we will stop at a Lava waterfall for lunch and then on to the Mojave mailbox. After the mailbox we will continue on to Morningstar Mine. From Morningstar mine we will head back towards Jean and complete the trip.
This trip requires off-road tires as there are sandy places and sharp volcanic rocks. You also must have a working spare tire. Due to the fact that this is in the Mojave National Preserve we are limited to 7 total Jeeps.
