REVIEW: Apex autoLYNX anti-sway bar disconnects
Instead of your anti-sway bar being a solid bar, bolted top and bottom -- the Apex is a telescoping shaft inside of a cylinder. Picture a piston inside of a shock absorber (or Rubicon auto disconnect).
When locked, the shaft does not move. When unlocked (disconnected), the telescoping lower shaft allows the axle to articulate up/down freely.
Off-Road 101
Here is a brief explanation about how Desert Wranglers organizes our trail runs. If you have been on any of our runs, then most of this is not new. But if you are just getting started in off-roading, this will describe how we run things. Every trail run is arranged and led by a Trail Leader, specific to that particular run. Overseeing the Trail Leaders in general, but usually not present on the run, is our Trail Master.
Understanding Your Brakes
Being able to stop your Jeep is just as important or vital as it is to start it and move along your journey. The factory brakes on your Jeep have been designed with the vehicle in mind on how it is set up from the manufacturer. When you start adding things, time to think about upgrading.
Protective Armor and Skid Plate Systems
Usually when we think about armor for our jeeps we think of steel bumpers, rock sliders, and steel fenders. The truth of the matter is that there is more to armor than what was just mentioned. The undercarriage of your Jeep is exposed and is an open target for the trail and rocks that you will come to meet.
Selecting the Right Gears for Your Jeep
Lifting your jeep and putting on bigger tires may be enough for the average Joe who just wants a lifted rig. Just because it looks good does not mean it performs. One of the most overlooked performance items in most Jeep builds is the ring and pinion gears.
The Different Types of Differentials
There are four common types of differentials. If you ever heard a mechanic talk about a differential or this is the first time you are hearing about it, we understand it is a part of vehicles not often discussed.
The Difference Between 2H, 4H, and 4L in a Four-Wheel Drive Jeep
If you are headed for some intense off-roading, four-wheel drive (4WD) is the ticket. With this system, power is divided between front and rear axles so that maximum torque is going to each wheel. Because power is split evenly, all the wheels will turn at the same speed.
Understanding Your Transfer Case
The transfer case transfers power from the transmission to the front and rear axles by drive shafts. It also synchronizes the difference between the rotation of the front and rear wheels.
Choosing the Right Tires for Your Jeep
Depending on your preference and what type of driving you are doing, there are many different types of tires. So how do you choose the right ones?
