Detailed Trail Description: This trail can start from two points. The trail either starts at Aiken Mine Road after leaving Cima Road or taking Deer Springs Road to Aiken Mine Road. This description is for taking Deer Springs Road to Aiken Mine Road. This trail is a sandy and, in some places, rutted road that leads to the Mojave Phone Booth (optional). Proceeding down Aiken Mine Road then leads to the Aiken Mine an abandoned Cinder Mine. On this section of the road the road is both sand and cinder. These rocks can be especially sharp which can cause flat tires. After leaving the mine proceeding to Lava Tube results in the only obstacle in this trail. A short, rutted incline that does have a bypass. Any stock Jeep can easily make this incline. 4WD is recommended for both the sandy road as well as making it up this incline.
Please note these trails are subject to change and this was written\updated the last time the trail was run. Just a small amount of rain can significantly change a trail and make it more difficult and potentially even impassable. Many trails are not frequently maintained.
